Carrabelle Florida Fishing Report: 3-7-2024

The fishing has been great on the forgotten coast of Carrabelle, Florida. Overall the weather has been nice and there are great bites near shore, inshore, and in the rivers.

Inshore: Carrabelle Florida Fishing Report

We had some great inshore fishing throughout the month of February.

Anglers can expect to catch lots of fish in the St. Marks river right now. We’ve been finding lots of speckled sea trout, sheepshead, and smaller redfish.

Focus on the deeper holes and bends in the rivers. Look for cover like navigation poles and docks.

Anglers are having a lot of success with jigs paired with plastics or live shrimp. Jerkbaits are also producing a bunch of bites.

The inshore fishing around Carrabelle, Florida was good for bull redfish. There weren’t a ton of fish around, but the ones that were here are big.

When fishing inshore you’ll want to look for structure. Ship wrecks, oyster bars, bridges, and navigation poles are all holding fish.

Nearshore: Carrabelle Florida Fishing Report

The nearshore fishing has been fantastic as well. We’ve been fishing in depths between thirty-five and eighty feet of water.

Reefs, rock piles, and shipwrecks are all holding fish.

Sheepshead, snappers, groupers, amber jacks, and a variety of other species are all biting. You really never know what you are going to catch next especially when fishing with live bait rigs near the bottom.

Bottom rigs with a piece of cut bait worked best, but hair jigs and jigging spoons have also been working.

Anglers can also expect to run into plenty of sharks and Goliath groupers in those same areas. We have caught a few sharks on big chunks of cut bait.
