Carrabelle Florida Buzz Bite Report 1-18-2023

The inshore fishing has been great in the Gulf of Mexico. We wrapped up the gag grouper season with some nice fish and now have shifted towards sea bass, grunts, snappers, amber jacks, and red fish.

Reef fishing has been good. Anglers should expect to catch a variety of snappers, amber jacks, groupers, and sharks on the reefs. Heavy jigging spoons and live bait have been the best presentations for groupers and amber jacks.

For the snappers free-lining cut bait and live shrimp have been our two best baits.

A number of bull red fish have began to show up on structure inshore and during the bright, calm days there is a sight fishing bite in the shallow sand flats, oyster bars, and reefs. A 1/8 ounce up to 1/2 ounce jig paired with a Big Bite Baits Scentsation Slim Minnow has been the ticket.

The weather looks good in the upcoming forecast and the fish should continue to bite good. Good luck to any anglers fishing in or near Carrabelle, Florida!
