Lake Oahe Buzz Bite Report 1-23-2023
We’ve got some of the best ice conditions I’ve seen in years over here on Lake Oahe. We are finding anywhere from twenty-two to twenty-four inches of ice with minimal snow.
The water levels are beginning to rise a bit and we are seeing a little seepage around the shorelines, but so far it hasn’t been a problem.
Overall, the walleye bite has been good with consistent action throughout the day. Anglers should expect to catch a lot of fish in the thirteen to sixteen inch range with the possibility of a giant.
We’ve been catching most of our fish between sixteen feet out to twenty-five feet of water. Target main lake points with hard bottom structure that’s near deep water. Large flats near have also been good areas to fish.
Rapala Jigging Raps, VMC rattle spoons in a 1/8 ounce, and set lines with minnows are all producing numbers of walleyes.
The bite should be good for awhile so make sure to plan a trip and head on over to Lake Oahe to enjoy the awesome fishing!
