Northern Wisconsin Buzz Bite Report 1-30-2023

We’ve got horrible ice conditions in Northern Wisconsin right now. Deep snow has caused bad slush conditions on all of our lakes.

Snowmobiles and foot travel are the only ways to get out onto the ice.

Stay on established trails with snowmobiles, and error on the side of caution. ATV travel is not recommended, and trucks should not be considered an option.

With that being said the fishing has been excellent.

Crappies can be caught in the basins on Clam Snow Drop jigs paired with plastics or live bait. Clam pinhead pro spoons have also been producing a number of fish.

Target the edge of weed beds and areas that have vertical green weeds for largemouth bass, bluegills and northern pike. Set lines paired with minnows will work great for the bass and pike.

You can also catch them on rattle baits and small jigs paired with plastics.

Walleyes can be caught on classic mid-winter spots like humps, rock piles, and main lake points in fifteen to twenty five feet of water.

Good luck to all the anglers fishing in Northern Wisconsin. Stay safe and get hooked up!
