Fort Peck Buzz Bite Report 1-20-2023

The lake trout bite has been awesome on Fork Peck. Overall we’ve got really god ice conditions out here, but as always please use extreme caution and check as you go.

Anglers should expect to catch a number of fish with some big ones mixed in. Most of the lakers can be found off of main lake points and humps in fifty to eighty feet of water. Look for schools of baitfish, because the lake trout will close by.

You can catch them on a number of different baits, but a Nishine Lure Works Smelthead Swimbait head paired with a Nishine Lure Works Dropshot Minnow has been producing a ton of fish. You can also catch some lake trout on big tubes and the largest Rapala Jigging Rap.

White, red and white and chartreuse have been the best colors.

Work your baits about ten to fifteen feet off the bottom and get them to chase.

The weather forecast looks good and the bite should continue to be good for awhile. Good luck to all the anglers out fishing on Fort Peck Lake! Have fun and stay safe!
