Captain Jarrid Houston gives his latest Superior Wisconsin fishing report on March 1st, 2024.
Superior Wisconsin Fishing Report: 3-1-2024
This is probably our last ice fishing report for this season. We are loosing ice fast and we never had a ton of ice in the first place.
There are still a few lakes that have good enough ice, so if you do plan on heading out please be safe and check as you go.
Bluegills: Superior Wisconsin Fishing Report
We’ve had a great bluegill bite the past couple of weeks. The fish have started to transition into their late ice spots.
Bluegills can be found on the edge of basins and along the edge of shallow weed beds.
Small jigs tipped with wax worms or euro larvae have been working great.
Small spoons or jigs tipped with plastics have also produce fish.

Crappies
Crappies have been biting good and can be caught all day long.
Look for them in shallow bays that are located near deep basins. Some fish have also been cruising along the edge of the weed lines.
Look for these fish in late ice areas. Crappies can be caught on small spoons or tungsten jigs tipped with a plastics.

Northern Pike, Bass, and Walleye: Superior Wisconsin Fishing Report
The Wisconsin gamefish season is coming to a close, but northern pike, bass, and walleye have all been biting.
Look for all three in the shallow weed beds in five to fourteen feet of water.
Tip-ups with minnows is a great way to catch bass, pike, and walleyes.
Lake Superior: Wisconsin Fishing Report
Lake Superior has open water, but there are some ice sheets to look out for. Anglers have been fishing on both the north and south shore of Lake Superior.
Trout and salmon are hitting spoons and stickbaits.
Most fish have been shallow and caught within fifteen feet of the surface.
Inland Trout
The inland trout season is open here in northern Wisconsin and anglers have had some success catching fish on small spinners. With the nice, warm weather we’ve had the rivers are open and trout fishing is a great option.
