Mack Peters of Slab Seeker Fishing gives his latest Buzz Bite Report on the Lake Superior South shore tributaries on May 15th, 2023.
Lake Superior South Shore Tributaries: 5-15-23
We’ve got fishable water on most of Lake Superior’s South shore tributaries. Water temps are hovering in the mid to high forties.
On the South shore steelhead are spawning and some are dropping back into Lake Superior. Despite this there are still a number of fish in the rivers to be caught.
Target the deeper holes and bends below spawning runs.
Beads, yarn flies, spawn sacs, nymphs, looper bugs, and spinners should be your go to presentations.
A few nice local browns are also being caught on the same presentations.
On Lake Superiors North shore the rivers are still high, but holding fish. On most of the rivers South of Silver Bay the steelhead are spawning and the bite has been tough. North of Silver Bay the rivers have decent amounts of fish fish pushing in, but due to the high water it has been difficult to land fish.
The steelhead season is almost done, get out and enjoy the last bit of it. Good luck to all the anglers fishing the Lake Superior South shore and North shore tributaries!
