Captain Jarrid Houston gives his latest Buzz Bite Report for the Superior Wisconsin area on July 4th, 2023.

Superior Wisconsin: 7-4-2023

Most of the summer we’ve had consistent North/ Northeast winds keeping our waters cool and the fishing hot. We’ve got a fantastic bite happening right now on the St. Louis River for walleyes.

You can catch walleyes anyway you want. Drifting, trolling, casting, and jigging are all working.  One of our go-to methods is pulling spinners paired with the Northland Eye-Candy Nightcrawler in the color Firecracker. It’s produced a lot of nice walleyes for us.

Anglers can also expect to catch catfish, northern pike, and other species mixed in with the walleyes.

On Lake Superior anglers are catching a nice mixed bag of salmon, lake trout, and walleye. Focus on the top thirty feet of the water column. Stick baits and spoons have been the best baits. The color can change day-to-day but pinks, purples, and silver flash are always good.

On our inland lakes walleyes can be caught on main lake structure like reefs, rock piles, and saddle systems.

Sharp shooting with Jigging Raps, slip bobbers and jigs has been very productive.

Look for panfish and northern pike along the weed lines. Focus on depths between seven and fifteen feet of water.

Good luck to anyone fishing the Duluth and Superior Wisconsin area!
