La Crosse Wisconsin: 8-11-2023
The pool eight of Mississippi River near La Crosse Wisconsin is fishing good right now. Anglers can except to catch numbers of largemouth bass. Water temperatures are in the high seventies, sometimes touching the mid to low eighties depending on the day.
Numbers of largemouth bass can be found in weed beds of eel grass and coontail. Most fish seem to be sitting on the edges of the weed beds.
Right now you can catch largemouth bass on a lot of different presentations, but one that has really been working was the Z-Man Jack Hammer Chatterbait in a Green Shad color paired with a Z-Man RaZor shad as a trailer.
Swimbaits, spinnerbaits, jigs, topwater baits, and shallow crankabits will also produce fish. For those topwater bites look for bass feeding on schools of shad and bluegills near the surface.
This pattern should continue to be good for at least a couple weeks and the bite is only going to get better on the Mississippi river.
