Wisconsin guide Jeff Evans gives his latest Buzz Bite Report for the Hayward Wisconsin Area on June 24th, 2023.
Hayward Wisconsin: 6-24-2023
We had some warm weather this past week and water temps are now in the mid-seventies on most of the Hayward Wisconsin area lakes.
There is a fantastic smallmouth bass happening right now in shallow water. Look for bass in five to eight feet of water on rocky shorelines, points, and rock piles. Topwater baits are working great right now, but you can also get them on jigs, plastics and tubes.
Anglers can expect to catch numbers of bass including some bigger fish.
Look for panfish along the edge of the weed line in about ten feet of water. Expect to find largemouth bass and northern pike there as well.
Small jigs will work great for the panfish, while the pike and bass can be caught on swimbaits, crankbaits, chatterbaits, and jigs.
On Lake Superior water temps are in the mid to high sixties. The walleye bite has been really good. Look for eater-sized fish in five to seven feet of water and look for bigger fish in fifteen to twenty feet of water.
Trolling stickbaits and crankbaits has been the ticket. Color can make a big difference out on Lake Superior so don’t be afraid to switch out baits frequently until you find what they are keying in on.
Good luck to all those fishing the Hayward area this week and weekend!
