Eagle Lake, Ontario Buzz Bite Report 5-25-2022
It was the Ontario fishing opener this past weekend and the fishing was great up on Eagle Lake. We stayed at Eagle Lake Island Lodge and caught lots of nice walleyes, northern pike and a few big smallmouth bass.
The water temperature was in the mid-forties on most of the main lake, but reached the low fifties in some of the shallower bays.
Most of our fish came from between 6 to 8 feet of water in the back of those warm, shallow bays. Most river mouths were also holding fish as well.
A 1/8th ounce jig paired with a 3 or 4 inch paddle tail worked great, but we also caught a good amount of fish on 1/8th ounce hair jigs. Pearl white, green, blue, and gold were some of our better producing colors.
