Northern Minnesota Buzz Bite Report 3-8-22

The fishing in northern Minnesota has been really good. The inland walleye season is closed, but we are still getting out catching lots of jumbo perch, bluegills, crappies, whitefish, and eelpout.

For the jumbo perch, fish on flats from eighteen to twenty-four feet of water. They are biting on Leech, Winnie and on Cass.

The jumbo perch are in smaller pods, so stay you’ll want to stay on the move in order to catch a good number of jumbos.

Some of our best baits have been small Northland Bro bug spoons or small Northland coffin spoons. You can tip the spoons with some wax worms or a minnow head.

The bluegills and crappies are beginning to move out of the basins and can now be found along the weed lines or in muddy bottomed bays.

Good luck to those anglers out ice fishing and be safe!
