Brainerd Lakes Area Buzz Bite Report 4-4-2022
It’s the first week of April and we are still out on the ice. We have been finding panfish in shallow basins, bays and breaks near basins.
The fish have really schooled up and anglers can expect to find bluegills and crappies mixed together. We focused in depths between seventeen to twenty-two feet of water with most fish being suspended in eight to twelve feet of water.
Small spoons and small tungsten jigs paired with plastics have been working great. Jig above the schools and don’t be afraid to move if the bite slows down.
The shorelines are beginning to deteriorate though many lakes have 18″ to 22″ inches of ice. Use caution when venturing out and remember just because the shoreline was safe in the morning, warming could cause it to deteriorate during the day while fishing.
