Michigan Walleye, Smallmouth and Salmon Report

Michigan Walleye, Smallmouth and Salmon Report

by

Here’s the latest fishing report for walleye, smallmouth bass and salmon in the state of Michigan, courtesy of Captain Ben Wolfe of Sport Fish Michigan:

“All across the state we have some fantastic options. Many anglers are taking advantage of the fantastic Michigan walleye bite that’s going on at night. They are trolling body baits and doing extremely well. However, as we get into that later post spawn period and the early summer pattern, don’t be afraid to go during the day. That bite will only get better and better.

“The smallmouth bass all across the state of Michigan are doing really well on the inland lakes as well as the larger bodies of water like Lake St. Clair and Grand Traverse Bay. Big fish are coming in, those big prespawn females. This is a great time to go for them.

“We’re also starting to see some fantastic Lake Michigan salmon action. We’ve already had a 30 pound fish caught this season, and we’re looking at another excellent year for some big, big king salmon and hopefully some fun coho salmon action coming up later, too.”

Stay tuned for more Michigan fishing reports from the Sport Fish Michigan crew all summer long! They will be covering a wide variety of species of fish and tactics to put them in the boat. You can find them right here on the homepage of AnglingBuzz.com.
