Lake Minnetonka Fishing Report: 10-15-24

Fall is officially here. We’ve had some colder temperatures and it’s really got the fall bite in full swing. Water temperatures are in the upper fifties and are continuing to drop. The fish are fully in their fall patterns and are biting well. This fall bite is going to continue until the lakes freeze up and anglers can’t launch their boats.

Lake Minnetonka Fishing Report: Bass

A lot of bass have moved shallow with the colder water temperatures. The weeds have laid down and shallow flats have been the best areas to find numbers of largemouth bass. You can catch bass a number of different ways. Shallow running crankbaits are working great. Light swim jigs and swimbaits are also producing fish. Chatterbaits and spinnerbaits are also great options this time of year. Moving baits have been best, but you’ll want to work the baits fairly slow.

Lake Minnetonka Fishing Report: Northern Pike

Northern pike continue to be caught on Lake Minnetonka and the surrounding area lakes. Anglers can find northern pike shallow mixed in with the largemouth bass. The same baits that are catching bass will catch northern pike. Crankbaits, chatterbaits, swim jigs, and spinnerbaits are all good options.

Lake Minnetonka Fishing Report: Panfish

Crappies can be found out on the shallow basins in depths between fifteen and twenty-five feet of water. As the water temperatures continue to drop those fish are going to move closer and closer to their first ice spots. Almost all of the fish are schooled up and suspended several feet off the bottom. Small jigs paired with plastics are a great way to catch them. You can also vertically jig them with Clam Tikka Minos.
