Alexandria Minnesota Fishing Report: 8-8-24
The walleye fishing has remained excellent in Alexandria Minnesota. Most of the lakes in the area have great bites happening right now. On top of the great walleye fishing anglers are also running into plenty of bass, northern pike, and panfish.

Alexandria Minnesota Fishing Report: Walleye
Overall the walleye bite has continued to be awesome in the Alexandria area. It seems like the walleyes are biting no matter the weather conditions. Look for walleyes on main lake structure. Reefs, humps, saddle systems, weed lines and points are all holding fish. A majority of the walleyes we are catching have been between fifteen and twenty-five feet of water.
We’ve had a lot of success pulling spinners and crankbaits for walleyes that are scattered across main lake structure. If the fish are suspended off the bottom crankbaits have produced more bites and if the walleyes are hugging the bottom the spinner bite has been better. Both leeches and nightcrawlers are working on spinners. We have found some pods of fish that are schooled tighter together. For those fish a jig and plastics or Rapala Jigging Rap were extremely effective.

Alexandria Minnesota Fishing Report: Panfish
The crappies have been biting well on most of the lakes in the area. They can be found along the weed edge in seven to twelve feet of water. The best bite for crappies has been in the evening however they can still be caught all day long. Most of the fish are sitting about halfway down in the water column. Slip bobbers with crappie minnows are working, but you can catch plenty of fish pitching jigs and plastics.
Alexandria Minnesota Fishing Report: Northern Pike and Bass
Anglers can expect to catch plenty of northern pike and bass along the weed lines. Swimbaits, jigs, and crankbaits are catching fish. If you want to specifically target bass a jig worm has been really effective. Carolina rigs, heavy jigs, drop shots, and ned rigs are also producing fish.
