Central Minnesota Fishing Report: 8-15-2024
The fishing has been awesome the past couple weeks in Central Minnesota. Water temperatures are in the high seventies and low eighties depending on where you are fishing. We’ve been catching plenty of walleyes, northern pike, bass, big bluegills and crappies. We’ve been catching a ton of different fish long-lining spinners and crawler harness with number three Colorado blades paired with a 3/16-ounce bullet weight. We’ve had success pulling along the tops of the weed beds in seven to twelve feet of water. Keep the boat speed between 1.7 and 2.2 miles per hour. It’s a great way to catch a lot of fish with a nice mixed bag of walleyes, panfish, northerns and bass. The spinner rig bite should continue for the next few weeks.
Central Minnesota Fishing Report: Walleyes
Walleyes can be caught in weed beds and along the weed lines in seven to twelve feet of water. Spinner rigs have worked well for those fish. Some walleyes can also be found out on main lake structure like points and humps. Jigging Raps, spinner rigs, and slip bobbers will catch those main lake walleyes. Overall the best bite has been first thing in the morning or late in the evening as the sun begins to set.
Central Minnesota Fishing Report: Panfish
Anglers can expect to find plenty of bluegills and crappies along the weed lines. Depending on the lake you are fishing you can expect to find fish in fifteen feet of water or less. Both crappies and bluegills can be caught throughout the day, but the best bite has been in the evening. Spinner rigs have worked well, but you can catch lots of panfish on small hair jigs or jigs paired with plastics.
