Alexandria Minnesota Fishing Report:6-18-2024
It’s the middle of June and the fish are biting in the Alexandria area. There is fantastic fishing for a variety of species from walleye, bass, pike, crappie and bluegills.

Walleyes: Alexandria Minnesota Fishing Report
Overall we’ve been catching a ton of walleyes in a number of lakes in the Alexandria area. The best bite has been early in the morning and late in the evening. During the day walleyes can be caught if there is some wind and cloud cover. It’s been tougher to get bites if it’s calm and sunny during the day.
Anglers can find walleyes in twelve to sixteen feet of water during the primetime hours. During the day look for walleyes in twenty to twenty-five feet of water. Target main lake humps, points, and weed flats.
Right now walleyes can be caught on a number of different livebait options. Leeches, crawlers, shiners, and fat heads all are producing fish. Lindy Rigs, slip bobbers, and jigs are all working.

Panfish: Alexandria Minnesota Fishing Report
Sunfish are up shallow while a number of fish sitting on beds. If you are going to target sunfish right now remember to let some of those big breeder bluegills go to help maintain a healthy population. Keep those 7-8 inch fish which are a perfect eating size. Hair jigs, plastics, nightcrawlers or leeches are working great for bluegills.
Crappies can be found along the weed edge in ten to twelve feet of water. Most of the fish are sitting about halfway down in the water column. Slip bobbers with crappie minnows has been really effective, but angles are also catching a lot of crappies pitching.

Bass: Alexandria Minnesota Fishing Report
Bass can be found along the deep weed line in nine to twelve feet of water. Overall the bass fishing has been awesome and we are seeing a lot of big bass lately. Using weighted soft plastics has been vey effective. Senkos, jigs and craws, Texas rigs, and shaky heads have all been working well. Green pumpkin, Blue and black, and brown with chartreuse tip have been some hot colors.
