Minnesota fishing guide Toby Kvalevog from Leisure Outdoor Adventures gives us his latest Leech Lake fishing report on June 12th, 2024.
Leech Lake Fishing Report: 6-12-2024
Leech Lake has been fantastic this past week and the fish are in a great mood. Stable weather is on the horizon and the bite should continue to get better. Walleye, perch, bass, and musky are biting well on Leech Lake.
Walleye: Leech Lake Fishing Report
Anglers are having success for walleyes all across the lake. A jig and shiner is still the go to method, but slip bobbers are also producing a ton of bites. Walleyes can also be caught Lindy rigging crawlers or leeches or on jigs and plastics are also working in low light conditions. We’ve been using the Northland Fishing Tackle Deep V Jig paired with a plastics for the aggressive primetime bite.
Location:
It seems like walleyes are feeding all over the lake right now. Focus on newly emerging deep weeds, sandy flats, and wind blown points. A majority of our fish have been caught between twelve and fourteen feet of water. If you have a strong wind for a few days in a row it’s worth fishing those wind blown points, because the walleyes should be stacked up there.

Jumbo Perch: Leech Lake Fishing Report
Don’t forget about the jumbo perch out on Leech Lake. They are post spawn and feeding heavily. The bite has been great using similar stuff for them as the walleye. If you want to solely target jumbo perch just downsize your presentation slightly. A majority of the bigger perch are mixed in with the walleyes. Look for perch on the sand flats in eight to twelve feet of water.
Musky: Leech Lake Fishing Report
The muskies have been pretty spread out, but a few fish are being caught. Some have been caught out in deep water while others have been caught on some shallow sandy flats. Bucktails, big rubber baits, and jerkbaits are all moving fish.
