We’ve had some really good fishing in the Metro area over the past week. Surface temps are in the upper seventies on a lot of the lakes in the Twin Cities area and fish have officially transitioned into their summer patterns. Largemouth bass have really been biting well along the developing weed lines. Drop shots, ned rigs, flipping baits, jigs, and wacky rigs have all been working. A few fish can also be caught on frogs and other topwater baits up shallow. metro area Anglers can expect to run into plenty of pike along the weed line as well. Crankbaits, chatterbaits, jigs, spinnerbaits and swimbaits will catch lots of northern pike. Bluegills and crappies can be found along the weed line in six to twelve feet of water. Look for emerging cabbage weed beds along points. A few fish can also be found under docks. Small jigs paired with plastics or hair will continue to work great. The fishing should continue to be good for awhile. Good luck to all anglers fishing the Twin Cities area lakes this week and over the weekend!
