Twin Cities: 5-30-2023

Overall the fishing has been pretty good this past week and over the Memorial Day weekend. Water temps are in the upper sixties on most lakes across the Twin Cities area.

Most fish are still in the spring patterns, but as the water temps continue to rise some have began to shift towards their summer patterns.

We did a lot of bass fishing over this past week. Some bass have finished up their spawn while some bass are just beginning to spawn. Target those post-spawn bass along shallow flats and docks in less than ten feet of water.

Some fish can be found along the developing weed lines as well.

Swimbaits, chatterbaits, jigs, and plastics will catch plenty of largemouth and smallmouth bass.

Crappies are just finishing up their spawn and can be found near hard structure like trees and docks. Small jigs paired with plastics have been working great. Bluegills are just beginning to spawn. Please practice selected harvest when targeting these panfish.

For northern pike focus on shallow water flats and bays. Jerkbaits, swim baits, ned rigs, plastics, and chatter baits will catch plenty of pike.

Good luck to all anglers fishing the Twin Cities area lakes this week and over the weekend!
