Captain Ron Dohm Jr. of Sport Fish Michigan gives his latest Buzz Bite Report for Manistee Michigan area on May 11th, 2023.

Manistee Michigan: 5-11-2023

We’ve got some pretty good bites happening right now in Manistee Michigan both inshore and on Lake Michigan.

On our inshore lakes the water temps are in the mid to high forties depending on the lake your are on. Smallmouth bass can be caught all day on a number of different presentations. Jerkbaits, ned rigs, hair jigs and tubes have all produced fish.

Walleyes can be caught early in the morning and late in the evening on jigs paired with minnows or plastics.

On Lake Michigan anglers are beginning to see king salmon push up the coast up to Frankfort. Trolling spoons and flies with flashers are going to be your best bet for kings.

In Grand Traverse Bay the cisco and lake trout fishing is really heating up. Water temps are hovering right around forty degrees in the Bay and these fish can be caught jigging spoons and blade baits.

Good luck to all the anglers fishing in Northern Michigan!
