Leech Lake Buzz Bite Report 8-17-2022

It’s mid August and certain fish have been tougher to catch than other on Leech Lake. Water temps are in the mid to low seventies and the musky fishing has been slower than most years.

The muskies can be found on the rock reefs, but a majority of the fish are still suspended out away from the structure. Most fish seem to be hanging out along the edges in ten to twenty feet of water.

Rubber baits or deeper crankbaits seem to be the best presentations for them.

The walleye fishing is still good up along the sand flats in Walker Bay. Slip bobbers paired with leeches or crawlers continue to be the best presentation, but Rapala Jigging raps are working as well.

On the main lake, fish along the edges of the rock reefs in twelve to seventeen feet of water for walleyes.

Good luck to all the anglers out fishing on Leech Lake!
