Leech Lake Buzz Bite Report 6-29-2022

It’s been really windy up here on Leech Lake over the past week or so, and that has limited some of the areas we’ve been able to fish.

Generally this time of year we are pulling spinners along the main lake reefs, but the wind hasn’t allowed us to do that. With that being said we have found good numbers of walleyes using slip bobbers with leeches along the weed to mud transition in Walker Bay and other wind protected areas.

We also found good pods of fish along the sand flats.

The crayfish have been molting, so using orange colored jigs and hooks will help match that hatch and you get a few more bites.

The smallmouth bass have been biting as well.

Anglers can expect to catch bass on rock reefs in four to ten feet of water.

During calm conditions topwater baits will work and when the wind is blowing classic bass presentations like tubes, ned rigs, and crankbaits will produce fish.

The weather looks stable for the 4th of July weekend and the fishing should be good. Good luck to all the anglers out on Leech Lake!
