Boundary Waters Canoe Area Buzz Bite Report 7/8/2022
The fishing was excellent up here in the Boundary Waters. Water temps are in the upper fifties to mid sixties depending on the lake.
Walleyes can be caught on slip bobbers and leeches in the evening hours. During the day, walleyes can be caught on crankbaits or on spinners.
The trout fishing was great. We caught stocked rainbows along the shorelines using slip bobbers with worms in eight feet to ten of water.
We caught lake trout on a few different lakes pulling spoons with 3 oz snap weights in twenty feet of water or deeper.
The smallmouth bass are up shallow. Some are on beds, and others are cruising the shallow rocks. Drop shots, wacky rigs, ned rigs, and jerkbaits will all work.
Northern pike can be found in the weed beds or near any inlet or outflow. Spinnerbaits, crankbaits, and swimbaits will catch fish.
