Grand Rapids Area Buzz Bite Report 7-5-2022

The fishing has been solid in the Grand Rapids area. Most of the larger lakes have water temps around seventy degrees and some of the smaller lakes have reached the mid-seventies.

The smallmouth bass have been hitting topwater baits in the bulrushes and along the main lake points. Focus on depths between four and eight feet of water.

A few fish can also be caught in those same areas on ned rigs, chatter baits, and on crankbaits like the Rapala DT 6 or 8.

Bluegills can still be found shallow along the weedlines. Look for areas with bulrushes and broad-leaf cabbage beds. Most fish being caught have been in three to six feet of water.

Small jigs paired with nightcrawlers or leeches will work great.

Crappies can be caught along the weedlines on small jigs paired with plastics or crappie minnows.

There are still lots of mayflies hatching and the walleye bite has slowed down a bit, but anglers are still catching a few rigging or using slip bobbers with leeches along the weed line or on main lake humps in fifteen to twenty-five feet of water.

Good luck to all the anglers fishing in the Grand Rapids area this week and upcoming weekend!
