St. Louis River (MN-WI) Fishing Report – Jarrid Houston

Duluth/Superior Area (MN-WI) Fishing Report

by

Welcome to another Jarrid Houston fishing report from the Duluth/Superior area!

“We’re on a great walleye bite right now on the St. Louis River. We’re catching them all kinds of ways, we’re fan casting, we’re jigging, we’re trolling. We’re catching a lot of well built, quality sized fish. It’s important to be selective with your harvest right now because the walleyes are very vulnerable right now.

“Water temperatures have been really consistent. We’re looking at 55 degrees right now.

“Our inland lake bite has been good. Anglers have been targeting panfish. They are moving up to the shallow water getting ready for the spawning ritual.

“Over in Superior (the Wisconsin side of Duluth/Superior), we’ve been targeting bass because they are legal to fish for right now in the state of Wisconsin. If you get the opportunity, go bass fishing in Wisconsin! Northwest Wisconsin, Douglas county, we have lots of good lakes for both largemouth and smallmouth alike.

“The trolling bite has been going out on Lake Superior. There’s been a little bit of wind as of late, so it’s been a little tough for guys to get out on their boats. No matter what sized boat you have, you need to pick and choose your days on Lake Superior.

“Anglers on the big lake have been getting a mix of coho salmon, brown trout, king salmon. A really good color of late has been Coho Crusher. Oranges and pinks tend to be really popular this time of year.”

That’s the report for this week in the Duluth/Superior area. Rock & roll. See you later. Tight lines!
