On some lakes the walleyes are being found shallower in depths between fourteen to eighteen feet of water. They are really relating to the deeper weed line. Anglers are having success targeting these shallower fish using slower presentations. A jig tipped with a leech has been producing. Slip bobbers are also working well. You can also slow troll live bait rigs with a leech or minnow.

On some of the clearer lakes walleyes can be found deeper in eighteen to twenty-five feet of water. These fish can be found on main lake humps, points, and deep weed lines near main lake flats. These fish are moving around fast and are typically spread out over a larger area. Faster presentations have been working well for these fish. Jigging Raps have been awesome. A heavy jig paired with a plastic is also working well. Trolling spinner rigs with a whole crawler or deeper diving crank baits producing a lot of fish out there.

Bass: Alexandria Minnesota Fishing Report

Bass fishing has been great these past weeks with the hot weather. It looks like it should only continue to get better. Fish are in there mid-summer patterns and are sitting in deeper weed beds. Fish weeds from that ten to eighteen feet of water. Throwing Carolina rigs, heavy jigs, drop shots, and have ned rig to pick up bass this time of year. A 3/8 oz green pumpkin football jig with a matching green pumpkin trailer has been producing some bigger bites.

Alexandria Minnesota Fishing Report: Panfish

Sunfish are up shallow off of their beds. The bluegills have been biting well. Looking for reeds and weeds in five to eight feet of water. Hair jigs, plastics, nightcrawlers or leeches are working great for bluegills. Crappies can be found along the weed edge in ten to twelve feet of water. Most of the fish are sitting about halfway down in the water column. Slip bobbers with crappie minnows has been really effective, but angles are also catching a lot of crappies pitching jigs and plastics.
