Twin Cities Fishing Report: 4-11-2024
Our spring fishing is in full effect in the Twin Cities area. Crappies and bluegills can be caught consistently on most lakes in the area.
We recently received some much needed rain, but most of our lakes are still have really low water levels and that’s something you’ll want to keep in mind the launch your boats.
We’ve found water temperatures between forty-four and forty-seven degrees.
Crappies: Twin Cities Fishing Report
Overall, the crappie fishing has been great on the Twin Cities area lakes.
The crappies are beginning to push shallow looking for warmer water.
Most of the crappies are being found between eight and fifteen feet of water in spots with shallow water near by. Focus on weedlines and shallow flats.
Hair jigs have worked great the past few weeks and will continue to catch crappies all throughout the spring.
Jigs paired with plastics are also working and if they crappies become finicky a live crappie minnow will work.
As the water temperatures continue to rise the crappie fishing is only going to get better and those fish will make a big push into the shallow bays and creeks.
Bluegills
Bluegills can be caught in the same areas as the crappies. Most fish are roaming in depths between eight and fifteen feet of water. Look for weed edges and flats with shallow water access.
Slow down your presentation for the bluegills.
Small jigs paired with hair, plastics or live bait have worked well for big bluegills.
River Fishing
A mixed bag can be caught on the Mississippi River. Saugers, walleyes, catfish, and white bass can be caught on blade baits and on jigs paired with minnows or plastics.
The bite has been consistent throughout the day.
