Minnesota fishing guide Joe Scegura gives his latest Buzz Bite Report for the Alexandria Area on June 17th, 2023.
Alexandria Area: 6-17-2023
The fishing was fantastic in the Alexandria area over the past week. We’ve got lots of new weed growth on the areas lakes and anywhere you can find weeds you’ll find fish.
Walleye, northern pike, bass and panfish can all be found along the new weed growth in twelve to twenty feet of water. Look for points or other changes along the weed line break. Those places are going to hold a few more fish.
Walleyes can be caught on livebait rigs and slip bobbers. Leeches and crawlers have been the best baits.
Largemouth bass can be caught on a number of different baits. Spinnerbaits, plastics, jigs, and topwater baits are all working. Expect to catch northern pike on the same baits.
Target bluegills and crappies along eight to ten foot weed lines. Small jigs under a float have been working great.
The bite is going to stay good for the next few weeks, so make sure to get out and enjoy it. Good luck to anyone fishing around Alexandria, MN this week or over the weekend!
