Northern Wisconsin Buzz Bite Report 1-4-2023

We’ve had some rough weather over the past few weeks and our ice conditions aren’t great. We’ve got a lot of snow and slush on our lakes and the ice thickness varies.

A few snowmobiles are getting out, but I would not recommend 4 wheelers. Most anglers are still walking out. Check the ice as you go.

Overall the bite has been good on a majority of our lakes for northern pike, largemouth bass, crappies, bluegills and perch. Target the edges of weed beds and areas that have vertical green weeds. You will be able to find a mixed bag in those areas.

The fish have been really aggressive and the best baits have been glide baits like Clam Tikka minnows and EuroTackle Z-Darters.

Dead sticks with shiner minnows have been working great too.

A few crappies and bluegills can be found in the mud basins suspended about half way down. Small tungsten jigs like the Clam Snow Drop XL have been working great for panfish.

Good luck to all the anglers fishing in Northern Wisconsin. Stay safe and get hooked up!
