Northern Wisconsin Ice Report 12-1-2022

We had about three inches of good ice on most of our smaller lakes in the area and the fishing was excellent. We were catching lots of bluegills, crappies, bass, and northern pike in the shallow weed beds.

Small jigs paired with Maki plastics or wax worms were working great for the panfish and largemouth bass, and set lines with minnows were producing numbers of nice pike.

Unfortunately we received anywhere from five to eight inches of snow and that’s going to shut things down for awhile. Most of our small lakes are going to be very sketchy for awhile until we get some real cold weather.

On a good note a lot of our larger lakes weren’t frozen over yet, so the snow did not impact them.

The forecast looks good over the next week so we should be back on the ice soon!

Good luck to all the anglers fishing in Northern Wisconsin. Stay safe and get hooked up!
