Dustin Monson of Hawg Hunterz Guide Service gives his latest Buzz Bite report for the Brainerd Lakes Area on January 11th, 2022.
Brainerd Lakes Area/ Mille Lacs Buzz Bite Report 1-11-2022
Overall the bite has been decent across the Lakes area and on Mille Lacs Lake.
On Mille Lacs, we found walleyes in eleven to eighteen feet of water. Spoons and set lines with shiners were the go-to presentations. We also found some nice perch in that depth range. There are some strong year classes of larger sized perch out on Mille lacs right now and are worth targeting.
In the Brainerd Lakes Area there is a solid crappie bite happening on most lakes. Fish have been in eighteen to twenty-four feet of water suspended in the water column.
You can also find some fish in the deeper basins schooled up.
Small jigs with plastics or live bait have been working great. You can also catch them on small spoons or on crappie minnows under a bobber.
For northern pike or largemouth bass work along the weed-edges in sixteen to twenty feet of water. Set lines with suckers are tough to beat this time of year. You can also expect to catch some bluegills cruising the weed line as well.
If you guys are looking to get out fishing in the Brainerd Lakes Area or on Mille Lacs Lake you can book a trip through my website or you can give me a call. Good luck out on the ice and be safe!
