Winnebago System Buzz Bite Report 5-4-2021

by

The Winnebago system is really starting to kick out good numbers of white bass, crappies, and walleyes. Out on the main lake and out to Winneconne, WI is where we have been focusing.

The crappies have really started to move up into that shallow water and are preparing to spawn. You can find them in the channels by the wooden piers or any fallen trees. The wood is gonna hold heat and it is what is attracting those fish. A slip bobber with a fathead or crappie minnow is what is producing most of our fish.  As the water warms up a little more a jig and plastic will start producing fish as well.

The white bass run in the Winnebago system is really kicking off and fish are coming up in big numbers. Look for current breaks in nine to fourteen feet for the best action. We have had the best success on fly rigs, particular in a blue and sliver pattern , but small jigs with plastics or live bait are working as well.

The walleye are really making there way back and can be found on those flats in what ten to twelve foot range. The bait of choice has been a 1/16th ounce jig with a thumper and live bait. Leeches and crawlers have been working best.

If you guys are looking to get out on the water you can reach out through my website or just give me a call.
