Leech Lake Buzz Bite Report 5-2-2021

by

I just took a little scouting trip out there on Leech Lake to see what the panfish situation for my leech lake buzz bite report and here is what I found.

Water temperatures are all over the place depending on what part of the lake you are in. I checked some of the deep bays like, Walker Bay and found water temps in the low forties.

When I checked some of the shallow bays on the North side of the lake water temps were in the low fifties and the crappies had begun to make there push towards their spawning areas.

Most of the crappies I found were holding on to that deep weed edge in about eight to ten feet of water.

With the sun and stable temperature in the forecast it should really raise the water temps and get these crappies moving in shallow.

The baits that were working were small plastics like puddle jumpers and small tube jigs. I didn’t try live bait, but I’m sure a jig and a crappie minnow would have produced fish as well.

When I did check up shallow I didn’t see many shiners or other bait fish. With the warming temperature it is setting up to be a good walleye opener. If things continue on pass those fish will be up real shallow and putting on the feed bag.

Thats my latest Leech Lake buzz bite report. If you guys are looking to get out fishing, you can schedule a trip through our website .
