Staying on the topic of this week’s show, we’re going to talk about some must-have Canadian fishing gear for your next trip north of the border.
Storm 360 GT Searchbait
Kicking things off, you’ll always want to have a swimbait handy and the Storm 360GT Searchbait is an excellent option. Bass, walleye, northern pike – they all love it!
Northland Mimic Minnow Shad
Another swimbait option is the Northland Mimic Minnow Shad, which is another pre-rigged bait. The color selection on these baits is truly incredible. They even have some UV colors, something you don’t see too often on soft plastics.
Quick Change Spinner Rig
When you’re talking about Canadian fishing gear and catching walleyes north of the border, it’s really hard to beat a spinner rig. The Quick Change spinner rig is a super basic walleye spinner rigging setup that comes in a variety of different configurations for several unique fishing situations.
Northland Butterfly Wing-Nut Blade
Now another spinner rig option that’s a little bit newer to the market is the Northland Butterfly Wing-Nut blade, which is actually just one-half of a Butterfly blade. It puts off a heavier, aggressive thumping action as you pull it through the water – just a different look that the fish might like on some days.
Northland Rock-Runner Bottom Bouncer
Another critical aspect of delivering these spinner rigs is having a bottom bouncer. The Northland Rock-Runner bottom bouncer is one of our all-time favorites. During the summer period like this, you might be fishing in deeper water, so upsize your weight a little bit and you’ll be more efficient fishing spinner rigs.
Northland Reef-Runner Spinnerbait
One search bait that you’re going to want to have tied onto one of your rods if you’re fishing up shallow is a spinnerbait and a really good one is the Northland Reed-Runner spinnerbait. There’s a few different configurations and blade colors, different skirt colors available.
Rapala Super Shad
If you’re chasing down some larger predator fish (pike and musky), you’re going to want to have a Rapala Super Shad handy. You can cast this bait up onto shallow rocks and weeds, or you can troll it out in open water or around structure. It’s a very versatile bait that catches a lot of big fish. In fact, in the past, we’ve caught a number of really large Canadian muskies, pike, you name it, throwing the Rapala Super Shad.
Northland Buck-Shot Flutter Spoon
Another option for some of those bigger predator fish is a big spoon like the Northland Buck-Shot Flutter Spoon. As you can see, this is a pretty large profile bait. There’s a lot of things you can do with spoons. You can cast them up around cover or you can troll them around structure or in open water. There just really versatile baits that you can use to catch big predator fish like pike, musky or lake trout.
Bubba 7″ Tapered Flex Knife
Speaking of lake trout, they can actually be pretty tasty treats. Whether you’re fishing for lake trout, walleye, or pike, it’s always nice to have a little shore lunch when you’re fishing up in Canada. This right here is the Bubba 7″ Tapered Flex knife. These are really high-end blades and it’s nice to have something like this if you’re going to be processing a lot of fish for a fish fry.
Blackfish Sun Shirt
If you’re going to be heading up to Canada, spending multiple days on the water from sun-up to sun-down, I would recommend having a sun shirt to not only protect you from the sun, but also keep you cool. These Blackfish Angler Series shirts have chemical-free cooling technology that will wick the sweat right off your body and also keep you cool. This particular model has a hood so you can protect your neck.
Clam Fortis Net
When you’re packing up your Canadian fishing gear, don’t forget to bring a net! I would actually recommend bringing something with a little bit bigger hoop, just incase you run into a plus-sized predator fish. The Clam Fortis Net is a great option. It collapses down for easy storage and it also has an extendable handle for netting fish out away from the boat. It has a nice ruler down the shaft of the handle for measuring your catch and the netting has a nice coating to protect the fish from damage if you happen to run into a big toothy critter that you want to release.

Another piece of Canadian fishing gear that you don’t want to forget is electronics. If you’re talking about getting some really good bang for your buck, I’d recommend checking out the Humminbird Ice Helix 5 All-Season unites. This package has all the essentials you need to fish on the ice and in open water. Hook it up to your boat and you’re ready to go!
Sea Foam Motor Treatment
If you’re going to be driving up north, you want to make sure that you’re truck is running good. I would throw some Sea Foam in the tank before you take off. They recommend about one ounce per gallon of gasoline in your tank. It cleans, lubricates and stabilizes your fuel system so you have your engine running better when you’re on a long trip like this.

We’ve got one more product to talk about before we let you go, and that’s the Wavy Label sunglasses.
