Hayward Wisconsin Fishing Report: 7-24-24

Mid-summer patterns are really setting up well in Northern Wisconsin and fishing has been good. A variety off species are fishing well including bass, walleye and muskie.

Hayward Wisconsin Fishing Report: Smallmouth Bass

The smallmouth bass are a bit scattered with some fish are being caught on shallow rocky areas in six to ten feet of water. Anglers are also finding some schools of bass on deeper rock piles in the fifteen to twenty feet of water. Smallmouth bass are feeding heavily on the bottom right now. Ned rigs, tubes, and Neko rigs have been working great. The best colors have been green pumpkin, brown, and orange.

Hayward Wisconsin Fishing Report: Muskies

Anglers have been catching some real nice muskies in five to eight feet of water. Looking for weed beds and submerged wood. Bucktails have been the most productive bait so far. Topwater is another good option this time of year as well, especially in low light conditions.

Walleye bite has been good but you’ll need to get deep in order to find fish. A majority of the walleyes are in basins and are suspended in twenty to thirty feet of water. Anglers have been having success trolling spinner rigs with crawlers and crankbaits for these fish. Using planer boards with snap weights or lead core to help get down deeper.

Hayward Wisconsin Fishing Report: Superior Walleyes

Walleye fishing has been good in the harbor. Anglers are having success dragging spinner rigs and crankbaits for these fish. Look for fish in five to ten feet of water. Out on the big lake walleyes have been sitting in fifteen to twenty-five feet of water. Anglers are catching them on crankbaits and deep diving stickbaits. Use planer board to spread out your baits. Look for stained water and fish along the mudline.
