Devils Lake Fishing Report: 7-19-2024
Summer is finally here in North Dakota. The water temperatures are finally in the seventies out here on Devils Lake and it’s made for some great action. The walleye bite has been really good and plenty of fish are being caught.
Devils Lake Fishing Report: Walleye

The weed line has developed on Devils Lake. Fishing has been good and anglers are catching tons of eater-sized fish. The outside weed edge has been in about five to nine feet of water. Some fish can also be caught on the old Devils Lake shoreline. The best tactic has been fishing the outside edge of the weed line with a bottom bouncer and spinner.
Both livebait and plastics are working with spinners. On most days the plastic has been out producing the livebait. We’ve had the best success using one ounce bottoms bouncer with a snell running about 36-inches back. Troll at about 1.2 to 1.3 miles per hour. The bite has been hot when you find the fish.

Devils Lake Fishing Report: Other Tactics
Bobber fishing is another way to catch fish and little more exciting alternative to pulling spinners. Find rock piles, submerged island, or underwater structure and put a leech about a foot off the bottom. It’s a great way to catch a lot of fish if they are stacked up on a spot.
Anglers are also having success throwing crankbaits and small jigs on the weed line. Focus on those same areas you are pulling spinners through. Windswept shorelines are also worth fishing. Hair jigs have been effective and will catch some jumbo perch, white bass, and northern pike. Crankbaits in pink, perch and shad colors have been the best.
