Jason Mitchell Devils Lake Fishing Report

North Dakota Buzz Bite Report – Mitchell’s Guide Service (Devils Lake)

by

The fishing for our clients this past week has ranged from good to very good to excellent. Wind and weather seems to have been our only limiting factor at times. Walleye fishing here has entered the much preferred summer patterns. This past week has seen limits of 15 – 21 inch eater walleyes being the norm with a good number of larger walleyes being caught and released by our customers. While not often targeted, some good northern pike are being caught.

Spinners and bouncers baited with leeches, crawlers or gulp have resulted in good catches of walleye. Trolling crank baits has been productive for some and casting windblown shorelines continues to produce when conditions warrant.

July will bring more stable weather patterns making travel by boat easier. July and August produces some of the hottest fishing of the year. For many of our guides, July and August are their favorite and most productive months to fish. We here at Mitchells Guide Service have expanded our staff of qualified guides and are now better equipped to handle short notice bookings. Devils Lake is a very unique fishery. When the midsummer fishing fades at other lakes and areas, the summer fishing for walleyes just keeps getting hotter and better here at Devils lake, ND.. Simply put the fishing at Devils Lake, ND. doesn’t get any better than the two months of July and August!
