Qu’Appelle Lakes-Southern Saskatchewan: 1-14-24
The ice conditions are improving across all of Saskatchewan.
Most lakes in central Saskatchewan and Northern Saskatchewan have solid ice and there has been vehicle travel.
We’ve spent a lot of our time on the Qu’Appelle chain in southern Saskatchewan.
The Qu’Appelle lakes and they consist of four lakes Katepwa ,Mission , Echo and Pasqua.
Some guys are now heading out in small cars and trucks. Please be extremely careful and do not cross any heaves or dangerous areas.
Check the ice often and gather local knowledge as conditions can vary. The arctic vortex is on the way with temps dropping below minus thirty in the forecast so our ice conditions will be improving.
Overall the fishing has been really good on the Qu’Appelle chain.
Anglers can expect to catch lots of walleyes throughout the day with the best bite happening during the primetime hours.
Rattlebaits and spoons tipped with minnow heads have been the best presentations.
Glow purple, glow pink, and wonderbread have been the best colors.
Target main lake points and reefs. Fish are being caught anywhere from twelve to twenty-five feet of water.
Don’t be surprised to run into a few northern pike, ciscos, and perch as well.
