Devils Lake: 2-22-2023
We’ve got a good perch bite happening right now on Devils Lake. East Bay, Black Tiger Bay, Hay Bale Bay all have good perch bites.
We’ve been finding most of our fish deep. Target depths between forty and fifty feet of water.
Small dropper spoons or small tungsten jigs like the Clam Snow Drop XL in a glow or gold color have been the two most effective presentations. If you do plan on using a small tungsten jig you’ll want to spool your reel up with some four pound ice braid so you’ll have the sensitivity to detect those light bites.
The walleye bite has been pretty consistent as well.
Look for a solid morning and evening bite in seven to ten feet of water. We’ve been finding these walleyes on sand points that stick into the main lake basin.
Rapala Jigging Raps, spoons, and rattlebaits tipped with a minnow head have all been working great.
These bites should continue to get better as we head towards late ice.
Good luck to all the anglers fishing Devils lake!
