Understanding Fish behavior with an Underwater Camera.
You know as anglers we have tons of tools nowadays to catch fish.
We have the best electronics, the best augers, the best fish houses, and everything has gotten better and easier over the years.
One tool that has really grown in popularity and improved over the past few years is the underwater camera.
I personally love using underwater cameras, because they show you exactly what the fish are doing and their behavior.
It is also a great tool to find fish. A lot of times I will drill a couple of holes and then check them with the underwater camera to make sure I am fishing in the right spot. I like using Aqua Vu’s Micro Revolution 5.0 Pro.
It is small, compact, and allows for quick deployment and pick up.
While it’s great finding fish with the underwater camera, my favorite use for it is to study fish and their behavior.
The last time I was out ice fishing I actually set the camera up and recorded it while I fished. I was fishing for about three hours and caught a pike and a bass.
When I went back and watched the footage it was unbelievable how many fish came and checked out my bait. I bet there was either a bass, walleye, or pike checking out my minnow two and a half of the three hours I spent fishing.
I had bass hit the minnow and then spit it out. There were schools of pike and bass together checking out the bait. It was really fascinating to watch and learn how the fish reacted to my presentation.
Now that I have seen the video and how the fish reacted I can make adjustments.
So next time I’m out ice fishing I’ll be changing up my presentation to hopefully entice a few more strikes.
