Yetti Wheel House Check List

by

Over the past few years, we’ve seen a huge increase in new wheel house fishermen. In this video, Jake Wallace covers a list of items you will want to have if you are fishing in a wheel house.

Yetti Wheel House Check List

Starting with the outside of the wheel house there are four essential items you will need if you plan on heading out this winter.

The first two items you’ll want to bring is five or six 4 x 4 wood blocks that are about twelve inches long and an ice chisel.  These blocks are important, because they will help prevent your fish house from freezing into the ice. You will need to use the ice chisel to free the blocks from the ice once you are ready to move your fish house.

The next item you will need is a heavy duty shovel. You will use a shovel to bank in the house. Doing this will keep your house warmer during your stay.

The last ‘outside item’ you will want to make sure you have is extra generator oil and gas. These are two things that you don’t want to run out of when out on the ice.

For inside the house there are a few items you can’t leave home without and the first is basic cleaning and cooking supplies.

You will want a few pots and pans, plastics utensils, dish soap, wet wipes, rags/towels and other basic cleaning and cooking supplies.

It’s also nice to pack some type of slip on shoe for inside the wheel house. It could be slippers, flip flops, Crocs, or any other type of slip on shoe. This allows you to leave your boots at the door and will prevent you from tracking dirt and snow around your house.

The last item on the check list is a place to go to the bathroom. It seems like a simple thing, but more anglers will forget about this than you think. We use a toilet seat that mounts on top of a five gallon bucket with a garage bag in it.

Hopefully this list helps some of you new wheelhouse owners prepare and pack your houses for this ice season.
