Brainerd Lakes Area Buzz Bite Report 10-7-2021

by

The walleye bite is really starting to heat up in the Brainerd Lakes Area. Water temps are in the mid to low sixties and the walleyes are starting to school up. It varies from lake to lake, but overall most fish have been found anywhere from thirteen to thirty feet.

There are schools of walleyes along the weedlines in fifteen to seventeen feet and then there are fish in twenty to thirty feet on the mid lake structure like humps and saddle systems and main lake points next to deep basins.

Lindy rigging a live chub has been the best tactic, but you can also catch fish with a jig and a minnow or jig and plastic.

The crappies have started to school up in twenty to twenty-five foot basins. Our best bait has been a small tungsten crappie jig paired with a Mr. Twister Sassy Stingum.

You can find good numbers of largemouth bass in the Bulrushes. Slow rolling spinnerbaits is going to be your best tactic for targeting those fish. There are also some bass and northern pike spread throughout the cabbage beds and along the deep weedlines. Casting rattlebaits, crankbaits and a jig and paddletail will produce fish.

If you guys are looking to get out fishing in the Brainerd Lakes Area you can book a trip through my website or you can give me a call. Good luck out there on the water and enjoy the fishing!
