Metro Area Fishing Buzz Bite Report 10-18-2022

The metro area fishing has been great and the fall bite is still going strong. It seems like every species is biting. Water temps are in the low fifties and lakes are starting to turnover.

The smallmouth bass are still biting great on the river. You can catch a lot of fish from shore, wading out into the current or from a boat.

Jigs paired with plastics or minnows having produced a majority of the fish.

On the Metro area lakes you can catch lots of largemouth bass, northern pike, and walleyes in shallow weedy bays or on shallow flats anywhere from four to ten feet of water.

Lipless crankbaits and shallow diving crankbaits have been working great. Small 3/8 ounce jigs and chatter baits are also producing lots of bites.

There are big schools of crappies in the basins anywhere from fifteen to thirty feet of water depending on the lake. They can be caught on a number of different presentations like Clam Tikka Minos, small hair jigs, small jigs paired with plastics, or drop shots.

Good luck fishing in the Metro Area lakes!
