central Wisconsin smallmouth bass

Central Wisconsin Buzz Bite Report 8-20-2021

by

The smallmouth bass bite has continued to be good out here in Central Wisconsin and on Lake Winnebago.

We have been chasing trophy smallmouth bass on the mid lake reefs. Almost all of the fish we have been catching have been on that mid lake structure, with rocks humps and rock bars being the best locations.

Large isolated rocks are also holding fish.

We have been using light line with finesse presentations like ned rigs, drop shots and tubes. Ned rigs have definitely been our best bait, accounting for most of our bites.

The largemouth bass are up in the weeds and with the hot temperatures they have been tucking up underneath all the lily pads.

Buzz baits early in the morning and then frogs throughout the day has been our approach for catching the largemouth.

There is a pretty decent walleye bite out on the mud. A lot of anglers are out there trolling crank baits or spinners and have been catching their limits.

The perch bite has also been consistent on Lake Winnebago. Look for that bottom transition from hard to soft bottom for numbers of bigger sized fish.

That is my latest report, if you guys are looking to get out you can reach me through my website or on my cell. Good luck out there on the water!
