How to Catch MORE Fishing Without Moving….

We all love hole hopping and moving around, but sometimes that’s just not possible. In this video, Tony Mariotti and Nick Lindner sit down and discuss a few ways you can catch more fishing when lake conditions are a mess and moving around isn’t easy.

How to Catch MORE Fish Without Moving…

Winter fishing can be challenging, especially when there’s a lot of snow and mobility becomes limited. In this article, we’ll discuss some tips and strategies for catching more fish without having to constantly move around. Whether you’re dealing with deep snow or tough conditions, these techniques can help you have a successful fishing trip.

1. Don’t Drill All the Way Down

When fishing in snowy conditions, it’s important to avoid drilling all the way down and shoveling out your holes. Instead, drill your hole down just enough to stay on top of the snow. This will help you avoid getting into slushy areas and make it easier to stay in one spot without constantly moving around.

2. Hunker Down and Stay in One Spot

While being mobile is usually a great strategy for finding fish, there are times when hunkering down and staying in one spot can be more effective. When the conditions are tough and mobility is limited, it’s best to find a good spot and stay there. This is especially true when fishing for crappies during the winter. Instead of chasing after the fish, let them come to you. Find a basin or a deep hole where the fish are likely to be roaming and set up camp.

3. Adjust Your Presentation

In snowy and tough conditions, it’s important to adjust your presentation to attract the fish. Use larger baits that can call in the fish from a distance. Rattling spoons with lots of flash can be effective in getting the attention of crappies. The noise and flash can entice them to come closer and investigate. Additionally, flutter spoons and baits that flutter down can mimic injured baitfish and trigger a strike.

4. Drill Holes Strategically

When you’re not able to be as mobile, it’s important to drill your holes strategically. Instead of drilling a large number of holes close together, drill a series of holes in different spots. This will give you a better chance of intercepting the roaming fish. By drilling a few holes in each spot, you can cover more area and increase your chances of finding active fish.

5. Fish with Patience

In tough conditions, it’s important to fish with patience. When you’re hunkered down in one spot, it can be tempting to constantly jig and move your bait. However, crappies can be finicky and may require a more subtle approach. Set up a dead stick rod with a sensitive tip and a loose drag. This will allow you to detect bites and catch fish that may be more hesitant to bite. Be patient and wait for the fish to come to you.

6. Upsize Your Baits

When fishing in tough conditions, consider upsizing your baits. Instead of using small jigs, opt for larger baits that can create more noise and flash. Ripping wraps, slab raps, and chubby darters are great options for attracting crappies. These baits have a larger profile and can create more commotion in the water, which can help draw in fish from a distance. Additionally, flutter spoons can be effective in mimicking injured baitfish and enticing crappies to strike.

7. Use Live Bait on a Dead Stick

To increase your chances of catching fish, consider using live bait on a dead stick. This involves setting up a rod with a live minnow or other bait and letting it sit in the water while you actively jig with another rod. The movement of the live bait can attract fish and entice them to bite. This technique can be especially effective when the fish are more hesitant to bite or when you’re fishing in tough conditions.

In conclusion, while winter fishing can be challenging, there are strategies you can employ to catch more fish without constantly moving around. By adjusting your presentation, drilling holes strategically, and fishing with patience, you can increase your chances of success. Remember to adapt to the conditions and be willing to try different techniques to find what works be
