North Dakota Buzz Bite Report 6-2-2021

The fishing on Devils lake in North Dakota has been pretty solid over the past week or so. The water temperatures just keep creeping up each day and I expect them to continue to climb with the warm weather we have had.

We are starting to find some nice weed growth and the North Dakota walleye bite has been good.

Slip bobbers with live bait has been the program here for walleyes. Leeches and minnows have been working the best.

Because there have been a lot of pike I have beefed up my slip bobber set up to help prevent break offs. I am running a fourteen pound main line to a twelve to fourteen pound fluorocarbon leader with a single hook size four or six.

Besides slip bobbering the other thing we’ve been doing a lot of is casting soft plastics. Again, most these fish have been shallow so we are using lighter jig heads in a quarter ounce size paired with three or four inch paddle tails or boot tails.

Casting a jig and plastic has been really effective searching for schools of fish on those wind blown shorelines.

I will also use crank baits on those wind blown shorelines as well, they will produce a lot of fish this time of year. Again focus in that three to seven feet of water for the best results.

Make sure to get out to Devils Lake and take advantage of this great bite we have going on!
