2 Amazing Spots to Fish in Canada

by

There are hundreds of amazing fishing destinations north of the border in Canada – it can be tough to pick just one. To help narrow down your search, here’s a couple places we visited last year that you’re gonna wanna check out. Whether you’re a walleye fanatic looking for non-stop action, or you want a WAY-up north adventure chasing jumbo northern pike and lake trout, either of these choices has a lot to offer.

Canada is known for its incredible fishing spots, and I’ve been fortunate enough to experience some of the best this year. One of the most memorable trips was to Reindeer Lake, located on the Manitoba Saskatchewan border. This massive lake served as our base camp for an unforgettable fishing adventure at Lawrence Bay Lodge. Our goal was to catch massive northern pike and lake trout, and let me tell you, we were not disappointed.

Reindeer Lake: A Northern Pike Paradise

For the first three days of our trip, we focused on catching northern pike. And boy, did we have some success! We reeled in some impressive specimens, including my personal best – a whopping 43-inch northern pike. It was an exhilarating experience, and I couldn’t help but share my excitement with my fishing partner, Joe.

“Reindeer Lake has been kicking my butt all day, but I think I got back in the win column here. Sweet!”

In addition to the thrill of catching these massive northern pike, we also captured some incredible drone footage of our fishing adventures. The beauty of Reindeer Lake and the surrounding landscape was truly breathtaking.

Lake Trout Fishing: A Half-Day Adventure

While the northern pike fishing was incredible, what really stood out to me was the half-day lake trout fishing we did towards the end of our trip. We visited Reindeer Lake a couple of weeks before the spawn, which meant that most of the lake trout were still congregated in deeper holes.

Let me tell you, there were a ton of lake trout in this lake, and some of the holes were absolutely stacked. It was a challenge to even get our bait to the bottom without the lake trout intercepting it. I’ve never experienced pan fishing like this before, especially when it comes to lake trout.

Aikens Lake Lodge: Walleye Paradise

After our incredible experience at Reindeer Lake, we were ready for our next adventure at Aikens Lake Lodge. This lodge is known for its abundance of walleye, including some truly massive ones. But that’s not all – there’s also the opportunity to catch big jackfish and lake trout.

Flying into Aikens Lake Lodge was a thrilling experience in itself. The lake is a maze of water, teeming with big fish. From the moment we arrived, the staff at Aikens Lake Lodge made sure that every aspect of our trip was perfect. They understand that while they can’t control the weather or the fishing, they can control the level of service and ensure that every moment off the lake is just as enjoyable as the time spent on it.

“One thing that my parents taught me was that I couldn’t control the weather and I couldn’t control the fishing, but I had to make sure that every other aspect of somebody’s trip was perfect.”

The fishing at Aikens Lake Lodge was phenomenal. We had the opportunity to catch tons of big walleye and experience some truly great action. The staff at Aikens Lake Lodge even joked that they would need our autographs after the day of fishing we had.

“We’re gonna need your autograph when we’re done with the day, brother.”

If you’re looking for a fishing trip that offers great fishing, excellent staff, and unforgettable times, Aikens Lake is the place to be. It’s no wonder that Canada is known for its incredible fishing spots.

Exploring More Fishing Destinations in Canada

After experiencing the wonders of Reindeer Lake and Aikens Lake, I can’t help but add more Canadian fishing destinations to my bucket list. Two spots that are high on my list are Great Bear Lake in the Northwest Territories and Lac Seul, which is a bit closer to Minnesota.

“The options for traveling up to Canada for fishing are just incredible. Great Bear Lake and Lac Seul are definitely on my list.”

Great Bear Lake is known for its massive lake trout, and I can only imagine the thrill of reeling in a 42 or 43-inch monster. As for Lac Seul, the idea of staying on a houseboat right on the water sounds like a dream come true.

“Going to sleep and waking up right on the water? Wow!”

My fishing bucket list, which is currently a chalkboard on the wall of my house, is quickly filling up with these incredible Canadian fishing destinations. The beauty of the lakes, the abundance of fish, and the overall experience make Canada a must-visit for any avid angler.

In Conclusion

My fishing adventures in Canada this year have been nothing short of amazing. From the thrill of catching massive northern pike at Reindeer Lake to the abundance of walleye at Aikens Lake Lodge, each trip has been a unique and unforgettable experience.
