Central Wisconsin Fishing Report – Phil Schweik

by

Fishing across the state continues to be very consistent with a lot of anglers now targeting walleyes on the rivers. Most of the action is coming on jig and minnow combinations with a few fish being caught on crankbaits. A few die-hard ice anglers are still getting out pursuing panfish on area lakes, but I advise using extreme caution when heading out as the ice is deteriorating at a fast rate at this time of the year.

The 2018 turkey opener started out with a bang and despite deep snow and tough conditions hunters across the state came through in a big way. A lot of really nice birds were taken and it is just a start to what could be one of the best seasons we have had. With the tough conditions right now most of the turkeys have been staging very close to available food sources. If you have a location that provides a good food source and you are seeing turkeys hold tight. It is more than likely that the turkeys will be using it routinely until the conditions improve.

Have a great week,
